Services

Family Support Services is staffed by a project director, case managers, administrative specialist, and 10 or more volunteers. This team provides direct services, support services, group and individual counseling. Its purpose is to connect people to resources, and assist troubled families, individuals and the elderly in a crisis or emergency; provides referrals to food and clothing banks and other appropriate resources.

Lamar Medical Center
Summer
Explosion is a summer enrichment seven-week program for
kindergarten through eighth grade students. Students are placed in their
promoted grades and are given a head start on the grade appropriate
curriculum for the upcoming school year. It is designed to provide
enrichment in the areas of math, science, language arts, and communication
skills. It is also designed to enhance critical thinking skills and to
heighten the students’ curiosity.
KidZone
picks up where Summer Explosion ends. It is a recreational and
cultural based camp filled with FUN for area youth ages 5 - 13.
Golden Agers
A program open to all seniors ages 55 and up. The program provides an array of activities: bingo, checkers, singing, birthday celebrations, picnics, and cultural field trips. Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p. m.
Financial Literacy Class
Classes provided free of charge to the clients and any one in the public who wants to change and grow their financial stability.

Appreciation
An annual event to honor our volunteers who give limitless services
throughout the year.
Adopt-A-Senior Christmas Program is designed to show appreciation to
seniors who have paved the way for us. Seniors submit three of their
favorites things on a piece of paper and then an adopter selects the senior
that would like to sponsor from the list. Services
Direct financial assistance for utility bills, food, housing, subject to the availability of funds for low to moderate income families and individuals who qualify.
This service is available only when funds are available.
Case management
links clients to medical, mental health, education, economic and social services providers.
Food Pantry (The Manna): Provides emergency food supply to individuals and families. Service is provided to the first ten customers on days of operation. Emergency referrals are handled after hours.

Clothes Bank (The Fig Leaf)-Provides clothing to all persons.

To receive service through the food and clothing bank the following information must be provided by client:
o Pictured Identification and Social Security Card for client
o Pictured Identification and Social Security Card for any and all
adults living in the same house, apartment, etc.
o Social Security Cards for all children
Bereavement counseling and pastoral care are provided by certified biblical counselors.
Self development and outreach activities to strengthen, restore, and preserve family systems and individuals.
Referrals
All of the above programs and activities are provided on site. However, if a resident requires a service or program not physically located on site, they are referred to the appropriate agency. The BGCRC has a close working relationship with all social service agencies in the CSRA.
Recovery Services
Alcoholics
Anonymous - (AA) meetings are available to individuals who want to quit drinking. Meetings are held Monday, Thursday, Saturday 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p. m.
Community Education Breakfast provides education, outreach and a hot meal to homeless clients. It is designed as an avenue to supply information or provide personal assistance to the homeless and others who want to discover or continue a track toward self-sufficiency. Saturday - 8:00 a. m.
HIV/AIDS Support Education and Support Group efforts help to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and assist persons living with HIV/AIDS to cope with their condition, avoid infecting others and obtain essential services. Meetings are held Saturday
