Beulah Grove Baptist Church

Founded in 1914, the
Beulah Grove Baptist Church (BGBC) had its beginning with approximately twenty members, under the leadership of Rev. John Henry Evans, when it separated from Mount Sinai Baptist Church. The church relocated in the 1920's from 15th street to its present location, 1434 Poplar Street.
The land for the church was purchased for $ 100.00. The original structure
was built at a cost of $ 1,000.00. Beulah Grove quickly developed adequate, viable, and spiritually inclined programs, auxiliaries, and activities. These entities enhanced the physical, mental and spiritual growth and development of the church members.
For the past eighty-five years, the principal leaders of Beulah Grove have been:
1914 - 1924 Rev. John Henry Evans
1924 - 1931 Rev. Willie W. Weaver

Over 5,000 members have been added to the Church and two additional Sunday worships have been instituted. 85+ active ministries have been developed that foster personal growth and development, and promote a sense of service to mankind; such ministries
include:

- A comprehensive Christian Education Department which includes added member orientation, Sunday school, weekly bible studies, special conferences, trainings and workshops. The church also has Bible study classes for adults on Wednesday nights (3 classes) and Saturday mornings (1 class). In addition, there are graded Bible study classes for children, ages pre-school through twelve and youth, ages 13 - 19. The Christian Education department, in the future, will provide a course of study leading to teacher certification at the local and state levels. We have training opportunities for ministry leaders and an orientation training class for all added members.

The Beulah Grove Baptist Church has always stood at the forefront of service to the community. Its history is rich with many men and women who have responded to the call to serve. God has moved in a mighty way to work through this church and others to develop ministries of helps and service. The church today has grown and expanded and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit has given BGBC a committed group of church leaders and lay persons and others to minister to the needs (spiritual, emotional, physical and mental) of the church family and the community.
The vision of the Beulah Grove Baptist Church embraces a rich and an abundant life
