In mid-1996, Dr. Sam Davis introduced the Tribal Concept to the BGBC congregation. This system is designed to address the holistic needs of the Church body. The membership, under the guidance of the pastor, are tasked to take care of each other. The congregation is divided up according to the zip code areas in which they live. Each zip code area is assigned the name of a Biblical tribe according to the twelve tribes of Israel. Each tribe has representatives from various ministries to help take care of the needs of the members in the respective tribes. These ministries include deacons, health care, prayer partners, mission representatives, and other Tribal leaders.
The aim of the Tribal Concept is to develop a fellowship of believers where people are helping people become closer in relationship to Christ, themselves, their families, the church and the community.
With the continual growth of God's Kingdom through Beulah Grove Baptist Church, the Beulah Grove family recognizes that one person - namely the Pastor - cannot, reasonably, "touch" each member personally. In addition to this, there exists the innate ability within the lay ministry that does reach each and every person that walks through the doors of Beulah Grove. The Tribal Concept seeks to develop a system that utilizes the infrastructure already available and optimizes the characteristics of believers and disciples for Christ. In so doing, touching every person within reason and in order.
